Livewire v4.4.6 was released on 21 September 2026, delivering 18 pull requests authored primarily by Caleb Porzio, with a community contribution from ghabriel25. The release is a focused maintenance drop covering documentation corrections, runtime bug fixes, testing improvements, and a dependency update.

What's New in Livewire v4.4.6
-----------------------------

### Documentation Corrections

Several documentation issues were addressed in this release:

- **Quickstart form request and validation timing** clarified to remove ambiguity around when validation runs.
- **Save-on-blur Alpine example** corrected so the snippet actually matches the described behaviour.
- **PHP syntax in nesting examples** fixed — a subtle but breaking mistake for anyone copy-pasting.
- **Duplicate Alpine installation warning** added to the setup guide, helping developers avoid the classic double-Alpine pitfall.
- **File upload testing example** updated to match its corresponding component.
- **Event payload access in JavaScript listener docs** corrected.
- **Pest used consistently** throughout all Livewire 4 documentation examples.
- **Image cropping before upload** is now documented for the 4.x branch.

### Runtime & Behaviour Fixes

**Skip redundant form rule checks during validation** (PR #10713) is one of the more impactful runtime changes. Livewire 4 will now avoid re-running form validation rules that have already been evaluated, reducing unnecessary processing on complex forms.

**Missing component methods only reported in debug mode** (PR #10690, contributed by ghabriel25) prevents noisy error reporting in production. Previously, calling a non-existent method on a Livewire component could surface warnings regardless of environment.

```php
// In production, missing method calls are now silently ignored.
// In debug mode (APP_DEBUG=true), you still get the helpful warning.
```

**Prefetch navigate hover links on keyboard focus** (PR #10719) extends the existing mouse-hover prefetch behaviour to keyboard navigation, improving accessibility and perceived performance for keyboard users.

### Testing Improvements

This release includes several quality-of-life improvements for the Livewire testing API:

- **Assertions for skipped component rendering** — you can now assert that a component was or was not re-rendered during a request.
- **Check all matching events in callback assertions** — previously only the first matching event was checked; now all matching events are evaluated.
- **Preserve Livewire test types after response assertions** — method chaining on the test object no longer loses type information after calling response-level assertions.
- **Allow missing model status assertions** — component tests can now assert on missing model states without throwing.
- **Fix Laravel 10 missing model test compatibility** (PR #10724) — ensures the missing model assertion works correctly on Laravel 10.
- **Stabilize loading delay browser test** (PR #10726) — a flaky browser test around loading delays has been made deterministic.

### Alpine.js Updated to v3.17.4

The bundled Alpine.js version has been bumped from whatever shipped with v4.4.5 to **v3.17.4**. If you rely on Livewire's bundled Alpine rather than installing it separately, this update is automatic.

> **Reminder:** The setup documentation now explicitly warns against installing Alpine twice. If you include Alpine via a CDN or npm *and* use Livewire's bundle, you will end up with two Alpine instances, which causes subtle and hard-to-debug reactivity issues.

Key Takeaways
-------------

- Redundant form validation rule checks are now skipped, improving performance on complex forms.
- Missing component method warnings are suppressed in production; only visible when `APP_DEBUG=true`.
- Keyboard focus now triggers link prefetching, not just mouse hover.
- Multiple testing assertion improvements make the Livewire test API more reliable and expressive.
- Alpine.js bundled with Livewire is now v3.17.4.
- Several documentation corrections reduce copy-paste errors for new developers.

Upgrading
---------

Update via Composer:

```bash
composer require livewire/livewire:^4.4.6
```

No breaking changes are noted in this release.

Frequently asked questions
---------------------------

 What does 'skip redundant form rule checks during validation' mean in Livewire v4.4.6?In v4.4.6, Livewire avoids re-running validation rules on a form that have already been evaluated in the same request cycle. This reduces unnecessary processing on forms with many rules.

 Why does Livewire v4.4.6 warn against duplicate Alpine installations?Livewire bundles Alpine.js internally. If you also include Alpine via a CDN or npm package, two separate Alpine instances will run on the page, causing reactivity conflicts. The setup documentation now explicitly flags this risk.

 Are there any breaking changes in Livewire v4.4.6?No breaking changes are noted in the v4.4.6 release. You can upgrade by running `composer require livewire/livewire:^4.4.6`.
