 Add Email to Any Laravel Cloud Environment with the Resend Integration
=======================================================================

 Laravel Cloud now offers a first-party Resend integration. Connect your account once, verify a sending domain from the dashboard, and attach transactional email to any environment as a native resource—no manual API key handling required.

 Laravel Cloud Gets a First-Party Resend Integration
---------------------------------------------------

Transactional email is a requirement for almost every production Laravel application—password resets, invitations, receipts, and notifications all depend on it. Configuring a mail provider has never been technically difficult, but it has always been a context-switching chore: generate an API key, copy it somewhere safe, add DNS records, verify the domain in a separate dashboard, and then wire everything into your environment variables.

As of October 14, 2026, Laravel Cloud eliminates that chore with a first-party [Resend](https://resend.com/) integration. Email is now a resource you attach to an environment the same way you attach a database.

Connecting Resend Without Touching an API Key
---------------------------------------------

The integration lives under **Organization Settings → Integrations**. Select Resend, click **Connect**, approve the OAuth consent screen on Resend's side, and you're done. Laravel Cloud holds the connection; you never generate, copy, or paste an API key manually.

If you already have a Resend account, your existing verified domains are imported automatically. If you don't, you can create a free Resend account during the flow.

Verifying a Sending Domain from the Cloud Dashboard
---------------------------------------------------

Once connected, you can create a sending domain directly inside Laravel Cloud. The dashboard returns the SPF and DKIM DNS records you need in a copyable table and tracks verification status in real time—no separate trip to the Resend dashboard to look up records or check whether they've propagated.

You still add those records at your DNS host, as always. What Cloud removes is the round-trip between two dashboards.

> **Note:** DNS propagation can take time. The domain status in the Cloud dashboard updates automatically once records are detected.

Attaching Email to an Environment
---------------------------------

After your organization is connected and a domain is verified, adding email to an environment is straightforward:

1. Open the environment and add **Email** as a resource.
2. Select your verified sending domain.
3. Set a sender address and display name.
4. Choose between a **dedicated key** (scoped to this environment, rotatable independently) or a **shared key** (used across multiple environments—rotating it affects all of them).

Laravel Cloud then mints the API key through your Resend connection, encrypts and masks it the same way it handles a database password, and injects the following environment variables automatically:

```ini
RESEND_API_KEY=your_encrypted_key
MAIL_MAILER=resend
MAIL_FROM_ADDRESS=hello@yourdomain.com
MAIL_FROM_NAME="Your App"
```

No `.env` editing, no secrets manager detour—your Laravel application is ready to send mail on the next deploy.

Dedicated vs. Shared Keys
-------------------------

| Key type | Scope | Rotation impact | |---|---|---| | Dedicated | Single environment | Rotates only that environment | | Shared | Multiple environments | Rotation touches all attached environments |

A common pattern is to share one key across staging and production for simplicity, then switch to dedicated keys if you need tighter audit trails or independent rotation schedules.

Key Takeaways
-------------

- **Zero manual API key handling:** OAuth-based connection means no copy-paste secrets.
- **Domain management in one place:** DNS records and verification status live in the Cloud dashboard.
- **Email as a first-class resource:** Attach, configure, and rotate email the same way you manage databases.
- **Automatic environment variable injection:** `RESEND_API_KEY`, `MAIL_MAILER`, `MAIL_FROM_ADDRESS`, and `MAIL_FROM_NAME` are set for you.
- **Flexible key scoping:** Choose dedicated or shared keys to match your team's workflow.
- **Encrypted at rest:** Keys are stored and masked with the same security model as other credentials.

The integration is available today. Review the [official Laravel Cloud email documentation](https://laravel.com/cloud/docs/resources/email) to get started.

 Frequently asked questions
---------------------------

  Do I need to manually create or copy a Resend API key when using the Laravel Cloud integration?No. The integration uses an OAuth-based connection. You approve the connection on Resend's consent screen and Laravel Cloud mints, stores, and injects the API key automatically—you never handle the key directly.

   What is the difference between a dedicated and a shared Resend key in Laravel Cloud?A dedicated key is scoped to a single environment and can be rotated or revoked independently. A shared key is used by multiple environments, so rotating it affects all environments that share it. Use shared keys for simplicity across staging and production, or dedicated keys when you need independent rotation or tighter audit control.

   Which environment variables does Laravel Cloud inject when email is attached to an environment?Laravel Cloud automatically injects RESEND\_API\_KEY, MAIL\_MAILER, MAIL\_FROM\_ADDRESS, and MAIL\_FROM\_NAME into the environment. No manual .env editing is required.
